Book Blurb:
One moment in time can change everything...
The day Scarlett dies should have been one of the most important of her life. It doesn't feel fair that she'll never have the chance to fulfil her dreams. And now, she's still ... here - wherever here is - watching the ripple effect of her death on the lives of those she loved the most.
Evie cannot contemplate her life without Scarlett, and she certainly cannot forgive Nate, the man she blames for her best friend's death. But Nate keeps popping up when she least expects him to, catapulting Evie's life in directions she'd never let herself imagine possible. Ways, perhaps, even those closest to her had long since given up on.
If you could go back, knowing everything that happens after, everything that happens because of that one moment in time, would you change the course of history or would you do it all again?
My Review:
This book broke my heart and then
put it back together. It was so emotional yet so uplifting. I loved every
minute of reading this story. Becky Hunter’s writing is brilliant and it didn’t
feel at all like I was reading a debut novel. This story captured me from the
very first page and didn’t let me go till the last.
The book follows best friends
Scarlett and Evie. They are unbreakable. They have always been together and
never apart. However, Scarlett dies after a fatal accident and Evie’s world
crumbles down. She doesn’t know what to do without her best friend and without
her soulmate. We follow Evie’s grief and story after Scarlett, through both, Scarlett
and Evie’s POVs, whilst Evie tries to put her life back together with the help
of many different people.
I was rooting so much for Evie’s
happy ending. I loved her character so much and wanted the best for her. She is
so likeable, strong and brave, but doesn’t believe much in herself. She is one
of the most relatable and real characters that I have ever seen in a fiction
book.
I loved how this book explored
grief, with such care and consideration, yet it's not all about that. It covers
the beautiful and simple parts of life, whilst also doesn’t shy away from
disability rep. I loved how the mixture of these topics is so beautifully
explored in this book.
Overall: Definitely one of my
favourite books of 2023. I loved the beautiful writing, the topics that were
discussed in this book and all the sad and warm emotions this book allowed me
to feel. An amazing debut that everyone should read!
