Book Blurb:

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases--a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice--with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan--from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses but crave all of the other things he's making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...

My Review:

Did it live up to the hype? Well, not really... I liked it, but I can't say that I loved it.

What I liked was the main character, Stella. She was unique and through her character author wanted to raise awareness and show the everyday life of a highly functioning autistic person, including both, their achievements and struggles.  I also loved that Stella was independent, driven and motivated. All the qualities of an amazing and inspiring young woman. I love books with empowering main characters and Stella was one of them! This book really stood out to me because of how amazing Stella's character is.

I also liked that the author brought in another culture into a book, as it was super interesting to read and be immersed in new cultures, traditions and ethnicities.

Why not 5 stars?

Well, firstly, the sex scenes...I think there were too many of them and it was quite repetitive. At times I found them even boring and just skimmed read through them to get to more interesting parts of the book.

Another thing I didn't like about the book was Michael. His character just really annoyed me for some reason. I think it was because he refused to communicate properly with Stella, especially not telling her much about himself as he was afraid to get rejected by her afterwards if he showed his true personality and life. It was a bit of a hypocritical move since in the book he was portrayed as a confident, forward and strong guy.

Overall: I am glad that I read this book. It was an easy read and I managed to finish it in a day. I really loved the representation of the autistic community, as well as the inclusion of different cultures and ethnicities into a romance book. However, those few negatives that I explored in my review were something that made me give this book only 4 stars.

Although I do recommend it for those who want an easy evening read or someone who loves a romance with a bit of a '50 Shades' vibe.
